Jefferson County commissioners have told staff to start drafting an ordinance that would continue the prohibition of retail, cultivation and manufacturing of marijuana in unincorporated parts of the county. The moratorium forbidding all commercial marijuana operations ends Jan. 1.
But they are considering permitting testing facilities — with possible restrictions concerning odor.
"Like I've said, I think we need to start out slowly and this would be a gigantic jump," Commissioner Libby Szabo said about allowing marijuana growing facilities.
